Finally, brown rice that the kids will eat!


Texmati Brown Rice

I've been trying different kinds of brown rice to add fiber, protein and other nutrients to our diet and have finally found one my kids will eat.  The rice is mild but flavorful and has similar texture to that of white rice.  It smells wonderful and is very tasty.  The recipe is simple to make (recipe on the container and below) and I can easily work it into our weekly meals.  Just yesterday, I served it with chicken teriyaki and edamame and the kids loved it!  


1 cup Texmati brown rice
2 1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon of butter 


Cooking method:

Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan and bring to boil.  Stir once, cover and simmer for 45 minutes.  Remove from heat and let stand for 5-10 minutes longer.  Alternatively, you can cook it in an electric rice cooker.  I just combine all the ingredients in the pan, choose "soft" white rice setting and 50 minutes later it's done.  What other ways have you tried cooking your brown rice?
